Behind the work

What it’s like to work with GoodShift

We’re here for low-ego and high-impact work. We value integrity, empathy, levity, equity, curiosity, and well-being. We care not only about the results of the work but also how it gets done and how people relate to each other while doing it.

Molly Routt (she/her)

I am a wayfinder, a confidante, a producer, and a teacher.

For visionary leaders working in non-profit, start-up, and creative environments, I act as a producer and partner in bringing their big ideas to life. I do this by cultivating the leadership, culture, and systems they need to unify teams and translate big thinking into even bigger outcomes.

I’ve always been an observer and a builder, paying close attention to the world and bringing creative ideas to life. Curious and inventive, thoughtful and disciplined, I tend to see opportunities where others might not, and I know how to get things done.

These are the traits that have shaped my career. From the start, I have been a producer of creative visions - from my earliest roles working on movie and television sets in Oklahoma, Dublin, and Texas - to my later role supporting tech start-ups with the Entrepreneurs Foundation.

I’ve consulted and coached for leading institutions, non-profits, and private sector organizations. Through all of it, what I have discovered is that leaders in all of these industries tend to share a few things in common:

  • They have big ideas and great vision, but can’t always bring them to fruition

  • They are high achievers and they feel a tremendous sense of responsibility to the world

  • They feel deeply committed to their work, and sometimes struggle to bring teams along

That’s where I come in. For conscientious leaders driving ambitious, creative ideas forward, I help cultivate a steady, productive team culture that fosters EQ, IQ, and continuous learning. I believe it’s the people inside a company who make a vision succeed, and that everyone deserves opportunities to feel valued, included, and connected along the way.

This is why I launched GoodShift Studio - so I can partner with visionary leaders and their teams to make the shift to more positive ways of working that set everyone up to succeed.

I believe in:

  • Both, and

  • The power of community

  • Joy as a form of resistance

Outside of Work:

Serving as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for OUTsider Fest helps me stay connected and contribute to vibrant queer community.

Becoming a ceramics hobbyist has helped me practice impermanence and remember the fun of getting dirty and messing stuff up.

Yoga teacher training helped me to stop separating my mind from my body. (Well, it’s helped me do it less.)

Prioritizing time with my friends and family reminds me of who I am and why I am.

Collaborations

Instructor at Northwestern University

On the teaching team, I serve as a coach and mentor for the Leading Equity & Inclusion in Organizations (LEIO) Graduate Certificate. The LEIO graduate certificate is a cohort-based program designed to build a community of professionals committed to fostering consciousness and tools for change around culture, individual identities, and institutional/structural inequities that impact experiences in organizations.

I support graduate students to develop a holistic view of the change leadership process from start to end and mentor them through equity and inclusion-centered design projects.
